Via My Mom

Roast Pig? Look Again...

I opened up my Gmail to find a letter from mom.
Subject line: It's not roast pig...

My Goodness!

...and indeed it was not. She had but three words, "it's roast dog!" The photo was taken by her friend who just returned from a trip to Hanoi. Ahhhh, what a way to start off the week.

Hi Kathy~

LOL I did not expect that! At first glance, I assumed they were pigs.

It makes you wonder how others view the animals we eat...seeing a roasted duck strung up, pigs, turkeys, etc. Seeing a pig's head still startles me.

I've had horse before -- it shouldn't be too different from that, right?

I'd eat dog if I did'nt know it was dog. I probably have, too, most street food meat in my part of the world is suspect, might be goat/chicken/cow but is most likely to be dog. That's pretty sick, actually.

Hey Cassaendra!
Horse?! I'm actually pretty curious to try that! As for dogs, I have to say that scares me a little just cause I've raised my own for nine years :)

Hey Opaline!
Hehe, that's how I felt about the street meat I ate in China! The vendors said it was one thing, but for all I know it could have been dog!
