I didn't intend to consume two bagels and a bialy in two hours this morning. But that's what happened. And sometimes things happen.

Stopped into Doughnut Plant for a Carrot Cake Doughnut before today's Open House marathon, but there were NO Carrot Cake Doughnuts to be found. The other flavours didn't sound enticing at the moment, so I strolled a few doors down to Kossar's Bialys for...

...a Bialy! With Coffee, of course.

I ate the still warm bialy in the bakery, sitting on one of those four stools facing Grand Street.

90% of the way though, the baker rolled our a new batch of HOT Cinnamon-Raisin Bagels. Oh man. I jammed the remaining bialy in my mouth (ever so gracefully) and stood in line for the bagel.

It was beautiful.

Soon after, I made the short walk south to our Open House on Essex Street. Caroline, my super energetic and absolutely wonderful co-worker, bustled though the apartment doors ten minutes later, greeting me with a bag of Oat Bagels from Ess-a-Bagel. I don't know about you, but I've never been one to refuse a bagel.
Happy Sunday ^_^

Last time I was in New York I made my way through several Doughnut Plant doughnuts before spotting the bialy - no choice - had to go for it......
Hi Kathy,
Sage words to live by:
I don't know about you, but I've never been one to refuse a bagel.I can say that about mochi, summer rolls, ...
:)
two men and a baby? awesome.
wow that biali looks awesome! i wish the shop was closer on grand street, but it's probably a good idea to take the long walk if there's so much delicious food to consume...
;) Thank you so much for sharing this blog. I read some of your posts and I enjoyed reading especially this post entitled "Two Bagels and a Bialy
. :) I'm looking forward to read some of your new posts soon!
God Bless!
Hey Kat!
I know! :( I shall check back this weekend!
Hey Terri!
LOL - I can totally sympathize with you ^_^
Hey Cassaendra!
LOL, add to the list...shave ice, bread pudding, green curry, and loco mocos!
Hey Yutjangsah!
LOL! :D
Danny!
It was awesome! I wish I had butter too (though am not sure if that the proper way to eat a bialy...) And cheaper than Doughnut Plant! bwhaha ^_^
Next time, grab that bialy and bagel and walk 1/2 block east to Rots & Vines, the coffee shop right near the corner of Clinton.
They're pulling good espressos and espresso drinks, as well as drip coffee - all with Counter Culture, Wi-Fi, outside seating, etc.
Mitch!
Thanks for the tip - I had no idea good coffee was so close by. Will make sure to stop by next time ^_^
Bialy's are a lower east side standby! You did the neighborhood proud by your high consumption rate. We approve!
