Cupcakes. It Seems...

...that, between yesterday and today, I simply cannot stop eating cupcakes. Cupcake after cupcake after cupcake. I can most certainly eat a few more...and will likely do so tomorrow.

Ever get one of those cravings? Those cravings that only intensify every time you try to satisfy it?

I'm suffering (or is that enjoying? ;) one of those cravings right now.

Yesterday it was the Dirty at Sweet Revenge with Zubair. We ate the cupcake utensil free, leaving cocoa powder stains on our chins and big grins on our faces...

...and as he took the last bite, I convinced him to stroll over to Magnolia's for another cupcake. Because. This was a different cupcake. And therefore a different creature entirely. In addition, the Magnolia's cupcake was topped with a mocha buttercream whereas Sweet Revenge finished off with dark chocolate ganache. It's like night and day!

Today, I took advantage of the free mini cupcakes from the Cupcake Stop Truck parked at 14th Street and 5th Avenue. I really craved a chocolate-chocolate cupcake but wound up with mint-chocolate, as they had run out of the former.

And because eating a mini cupcake does nothing but make you crave a bigger one, I stopped in at Sugar Sweet Sunshine for the "Ooey Gooey", a chocolate cupcake with chocolate-almond buttercream.

Then I went home and ate some real food.
But now I'm craving a cupcake again.
This is ridiculous.

I love how a cupcake isn't exactly a slice of cake and small enough that you could eat two (or more) :)

I REALLY love the way Sweet Revenge's cupcakes look.

LOVE cupcakes. I really don't mind the cupcake trend. How else are we going to be able to indulge in cupcakes in every area of the city? Now, if only Momofuku Milk Bar + Bakery would start doing cupcakes....

Hi Kathy,

I agree with Kat's remark on the innocence of cupcakes. Their diminutive size allows you to not feel guilty indulging in them. :)

They all look really great. The best part is eating them all! Glad you had a wonderful day.

love your blog, i've discovered so many lovely places thanks to you!

i was showing a japanese friend around the eVil yesterday. made my 234389234 trip to abraco, then went to the new pinisi location and had an overly-generous slice of strawberry-rhubarb pie. <3

No ultimate fave...not yet at least! ;)

Kat!
Exactly!

Jessica!
I LOVELOVE the Brooklyn Blackout one...they're all just so different, it's hard to compare. My fingers are croissant crossed - hope they come out delicious! :)

Danny!
Oo yeah, you gotta go to Sweet Revenge. The Dirty is definitely their best! :)

Hey Anna!
Me too! :D

Hey Helen!
Oh man, I can't even begin to picture the Momofuku cupcakes...o_O!

Hey Cassaendra!
Thanks! Their size is both a plus and minus. Plus - no guilty. Minus - you end up eating two or three or four! hehe ^_^

Shann!
hahah, me too :D

Hey Suhxie!
Aww, thank you! :D Oh man, I'm always so glad to meet another Abraco fan...that place is amazing! ^_^ I gotta make my way out to Pinisi for that pie...O_O!
