Zubair and I met for a quick lunch in Washington Square Park earlier this week. The weather was just so lovely, I couldn't imagine not eating outside. Luckily, the line at the Dosa Man cart wasn't long, so we shared a Pondicherry Dosa and few snacks. The Pondicherry Dosa is stuffed with curried potatoes, bell peppers, and carrots. On the side, coconut chutney and sambar.

Pictured here is a duo of fried Samosas and a Veggie Roti tucked in the middle. A bunch of different sauces, can't recall them all, but I loved them nonetheless.
How to eat? I would dip the samosa in the sauce and then munch away, but Zubair was used to eating it in a different manner, which ultimately proved to be much more efficient. He cut the samosa into bite-sized pieces and mixed them with all the sauces - this resulted in sauce covered samosa nuggets. So very awesome :)

That's a good way to eat them - like a samosa chat, I guess!
either way sounds delicious!
i haven't visited the w.s.p. dosa man in so long, i figured he couldn't be there anymore. how's this for funny -- i noticed a new dosa spot in the newport mall in jersey city (easy trip on the path train). it's a fast food court, and I opted for a veggie combo, but I saw them cranking out fresh, full-size dosa too.
YUM! There's an amazing place in New Haven called "Thali Too" - they make the best dosas I've ever had. There's one that's bigger than the length of a dining table called the "Dean's Dosa." I'll take you the next time you're in the city.
Hey Kathy!
I'm friends with your cousin Michel and have followed your blog for a while.
I just got the latest issue of Conde Nast Travel and your blog is mentioned in the "Our Hawaii" article. Yay you! :)
Su-Lin!
Exactly! :D
Kat!
I agree, hehe ^_^
Justin!
The Dosa Man is still there and busier than ever! I'm always on the lookout for good dosas...might just make a trip there on a weekend! ^_^
Justin!
o_O When do you get back? I can't believe I won't get to see you all summer! :/
Joyce!
Michel has mentioned you a few times, I'm so happy that you read my blog, hehe ^_^ Super thanks for the tip...I ran right out to the store as soon as I saw your comment...had no idea it was this month's issue!!! :D
p.s. if you're really on the look-out for good dosa, it's tough to beat dosa hutt in flushing, queens on Bowne St. at Holly St. This place is insanely out of the way, and I can't even assure you it's still there, but I happen to live around there when I was little (yay, Flushing!). It's about a mile, maybe mile and a half from the #7 station, so you've got to be really committed to make the trip there. but I'd definitely try to get confirmation about whether or not it's open before travelling that far.
